Chandrashila peak is  situated in Uttrakhand state of India.
This trek is also known as trek tungnath, #Tungnath is the third temple of #Panch_kedar of great hinduism values and it is the highest altitude temple of lord shiva in the world.
It is a 3.5 km trek, a  easy and pleasent trek with good trails.

I visited this awesome place in the month of august it was raining at that time, not really a good time for the trek as the sky was not clear, but the fun was no less.
This place is known as the SWITZERLAND of Uttrakhand. It has beautiful landscapes and very nice weather

To reach to chandrashila peak, me and my friend #vishal took  a bus from Dehradun (capital of Uttrakhand) for Rudryaprayag as there are no trains in this route.  It is a very beautiful journey from Dehradun to Rudryaprayag as we pass through rishikesh, Srinagar and karanpryag three very beautiful cities, it is a 6-7 hours journey by bus. Form rudryaprayag we took a mahindra “maxx” to okhimath or we can hire a cab it is a 2 hour journey to reach to okhimath from rudryaprayag. Okhimath is a small town in rudryaprayag district, with very nice weather and a very less hotel facilities. As  we were exhausted by the journey we decided to stay the night in okhimath clicking and filming the beauty of the town.

Next morning, early at 7, we took a bus to chopta from okhimath a 30 km journey. With some extraordinary view. I wanted to walk that 30 km it was that beautiful, and we did, we walked 5-6 km and took a bus afterwards because we didn’t want to get exhausted before the start of the trek. After reaching chopta, we had a light breakfast in a small restaurant. “chopta” is the place where the trek starts.

The nice trails lead our way to tungnath temple. And in the trek after 400-500 meters of walking in the trail I realised why it was called the SWITZERLAND of Uttrakhand. The extraordinary views, the green grass lands, the grazing horses took our eyes. As tungnath is a holy place for hindus we meet many “sadhus” (hindu holy sage) on the trek and other travellers too. We became friends with two very nice people #Jyata and #Yeesha from mumbai and continued the trek together. There are many tea stalls on the trek after every half km. Usually it is not a kind of trek which takes a lot of time but we enjoyed every bit of the trek making a lot of stoppages.  After reaching tungnath we sat with a sadhu in his little cave, it was cold there so, the generous sadhu set up a bonfire inside his cave. The view from the temple at the dawn was breathtaking (what else would a traveller wish for)we stayed the night in the guest house managed by the temple committee.

Chandrashila peak was the highest point of the trek which was just 1 km from tungnath temple. We wanted to enjoy the sunrise at chandrashila peak so,we got up early at 3 in the morning (or call it night).
I would suggest the trek from tungnath to chandrashila must be done before sunrise, as we started for chandrashila peak we saw grazing herd of deers and muster of peacocks. It was a very pleasent site. It was a different feeling they were not some zoo animals and birds but the real ,wild , and free creatures. As we reached chandrashila peak we were astonished by the 360 degree view as it was the highest point there. We enjoyed the silence till the sun came up and the feeling of accomplished dream was worth more than kohinoor.
